Water Treatment: Organic and Inorganic Pollutant Removal by ClayMix System
En Gibton is a water treatment company that develops novel adsorption-filtration systems for removing organic and inorganic pollutants from water.
The ClayMix system is a line of 'ready-for-use" adsorption-filtration clay complex packages, which remove contaminants from ground water, surface water and wastewater. The ClayMix system is an effective, inexpensive, environmentally friendly and reliable alternative to conventional water treatment solutions.
The Market
Penetration of fuel additives, industrial solvents, herbicides, agrochemicals and antibiotics into ground- and surface water, pose a grave threat to the environment and constitute a real economic and health issue. Strict government regulations cause industries and water utilities to seek new and better treatment solutions and the adoption of the best economically viable technologies. The world market for water treatment products is estimated at USD 6 billion, with a yearly growth of 9%.
The Technology
ClayMix treatment system is based on a patented technology of Micelle-and Organo-clay compounds mixed with Sand clay, creating a multi-layered granular mixture. Dissolved contaminant molecules, anionic, neutral and some cationic, are adsorbed into the ClayMix and removed from the water during filtration or settling processes. ClayMix systems may be installed at drinking water wells, surface water reservoirs and at municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities.
The adsorption- filtration and adsorption- settling applications are designed differently as two market products:
v The inorganic application adsorbs: Perchlorate, Selenium, Cyanides and other inorganic contaminants in the PPM and PPB range.
v The organic application adsorbs: MTBE, TCE, micro-organisms, herbicides, detergents and other TOCs in the PPM and PPB range.
Status
En Gibton was established in January 2006, and is a part of ATI's Cleantech Group. The company successfully completed a pilot operation and testing for removal of Perchlorate from a water-well. The pilot was the first of several projects in cooperation with the Israel Water Authority. En Gibton is developing new applications in cooperation with the Israel water company Mekorot and with several Israeli water and wastewater purification companies.
