Novel Implant Technology for Minimally Invasive Wrinkle Treatment

Aesthetics Point develops a novel implant technology for aesthetic facial wrinkle treatment. The company addresses a growing need for efficient, cost effective and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures for wrinkles in difficult locations such as around the eyes and mouth. The developed product is a dynamic miniature implant in various configurations that will be used for facial aesthetic-cosmetic skin-shape procedures. Aesthetics Point's minimally invasive technology provides a long-term solution to facial wrinkle treatment with minimum down-time.

THE MARKET

Aesthetic minimal invasive procedures become more popular, with a strong, continued increase in cosmetic surgery in the US. In 2005, US consumers spent more than $12.3 billion on nearly 11.8 million aesthetic procedures.  Treatments of facial wrinkles represent the most significant segment of all non-surgical and surgical procedures with total consumer market of more than $5.5 billion. Sales of minimally invasive facelift implants are expected to grow from $12 million (15,000 procedures) in 2005, to $140 million (175,000 procedures) in 2010. The facial implant segment is still underdeveloped with less than a handful of alternatives. The market is still open to a new and more efficient product becoming industry's first-choice.

THE TECHNOLOGY

Aesthetics Point's novel technology is based on the active ability of a proprietary dynamic implant to expand and maintain its new configuration underneath the skin, thus holding it in the desirable position. The active nature of the implants stems from their special configuration and elastic nature of the material. The implants are made from FDA approved biodegradable materials.

The suggested technology will offer a minimally invasive, quick procedure, with local anesthetic, in a regular clinic (not an OR). The downtime is expected to be minimal and the results will sustain for as much as two years. The dynamic quality of the implant will enable to stretch the skin without the need of an anchor like similar methods and will be able to address also problematic locations in the face, such as around the eye and smile wrinkles.

STATUS

The company was founded in 2008 and operates in the framework of ATI technology incubator, a subsidiary of Biomedix Incubator Ltd. (TASE).  The company is developing a first prototype of the implant.
